Our Historic Kennebunk Inn Offers Modern Amenities

The Inn at English Meadows, a modern, chic bed and breakfast, is located in Kennebunk’s Lower Village and is an enjoyable eight-minute walk from Dock Square in Kennebunkport, Maine. This recently renovated, historic Kennebunk inn has welcomed travelers from all over the world for more than 75 years. Innkeeper Elizabeth Arruda strives to provide a comfortable, relaxed experience for her guests by offering modern amenities, divine breakfasts (including home-grown herbs), and a location filled with many attractions to explore.

History of Our Kennebunk Inn

The former Greek Revival home was first built by local farmer Asa English circa 1860. The English family began a dairy business after the Civil War, keeping the cattle in the attached barn and renting rooms in the main house. Later, the barn became a carriage house, which was divided into seven rooms. The hayloft inside the old barn was converted into a large suite which is now called the Carriage House Suite. In addition, a small private cottage was added in the rear meadow, which is now referred to as the Bungalow. Each owner has left an impression on this storied Kennebunk inn throughout the years, working tirelessly to keep it looking pristine through the rugged Maine winters and salty mist of summer. In 2018, Elizabeth took ownership of the inn, and proudly continues the tradition of caring for this historic bed and breakfast.
