You’ve heard of wine trails, cheese trails, brewery trails and – of course – hiking trails but how about an art museum trail? The Maine Art Museum Trail is 8 art museums, within 200 miles of each other, and containing over 73,000 works of art.
Maine and art are a natural fit, our beautiful state having inspired and played home to generations of artists: Frederic Edwin Church, Edward Hopper, George Bellows, Georgia O’Keeffe, Fitz Hugh Lane, Winslow Homer, and three generations of the Wyeth family. Thus it should come as no surprise that Maine plays host to a number of fine art museums.
