Moving In

February 26th, 2011 by Eric Brodar

What an exciting and exhausting week for us! We have finally made our move to The Inn at English Meadows. There are boxes everywhere we look but we are taking it one day at a time. After a very long day of moving in, our good friends Jan & Rick Wolf of the B&B Team stopped by to welcome us to Kennebunk by presenting us with a gift labeled I.S.K. — well, we had no idea what that could be but it was the perfect gift. The I.S.K. gift (seen in the attached picture) is an Innkeepers Survival Kit — are you wondering what that would include? Well is has all the essentials we need – vodka, olives, & toothpicks! It was a perfect gift for relaxing after a long day.

This weekend is Winter Festival in Kennebunk - it’s a beautiful sunny day, a bit cold but the sun feels really good after an all day snow storm yesterday. The snow was appreciated by all the snowshoers at the festival today! I am sure that after the day’s festivities everyone will stop by Pedro’s, which had its grand opening this week and so far it has been a sellout every night! I highly recommend the blood orange margaritas — this place will be quite a hot spot this summer!

Moving on up!

February 20th, 2011 by Eric Brodar

As moving day draws near we are getting more excited about becoming innkeepers, everywhere I look I see boxes! We are looking forward to getting settled in to our new life in Maine. It will be a big change for us but one we are ready for.

Since there are so many upgrades to the inn and to lower village Kennebunk we decided to give the name of the inn an update too so it will now be called The Inn at English Meadows and for your convenience the web address will remain the same www.theenglishmeadowsinn.com

The adventure has only just begun so stayed tuned for more  updates. We will have so many to share now that we will be living full time in Kennebunk we look forward to sharing them all with you.

Decorating the inn

February 12th, 2011 by Eric Brodar

Our decorator Annie has chosen so many exciting colors, textiles, and furniture for inn we are very pleased that everything is coming together so nicely for your stay at the English Meadows Inn.

Our new Vera Wang mattresses will provide the maxium style & comfort and they are hypoallergenic! The beds will all have tone on tone patterns and the finest quality that Frette has been known for now  for 150 years. We are sure you will have pleasant dreams while staying at English Meadows Inn.

Visiting The Kennebunks  just got even better – Pedro’s (a new Mexican restaurant) will open later this month. Pedro’s is a short walk from the inn and has the same owner’s as Pier 77 & The Ramp. Margarita’s anyone….

Stay tuned for all the latest updates!

Cold Winters Morning Baking

February 6th, 2011 by Eric Brodar

What could be better on a cold winters morning than the aroma of a cinnamon sugar muffing baking in the oven….I can’t wait for you to taste this wonderful new recipe I found.  Waking up to the smell of cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg  at English Meadows Inn you make you fill all warm inside, what a great way to start your day in Kennebunk!

We shopped until we dropped!

What an exciting 2 days! Eric & I attended the NY Gift show to shop for our new dishes, glassware, stemware, and linens for your next visit to the  English Meadows Inn. We wanted to make sure that we found the newest fashions and highest qualities to insure your stay would be memorable and enjoyable. The vendors we met with at the show we very excited to hear about Kennebunk and the upgrades we are making to the inn. I can’t wait to receive all the samples we ordered to work with over the next few weeks – it’s all very exciting. We look forward to sharing our next update with you, check back soon!
